      EUCHARIST
Catholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.

A child must be in the Religious Education Program for at least one year before entering the special program for First Eucharist.

  • First Eucharist usually takes place as part of the Grade 2 program.
  • First Eucharist Mass is usually in May.
  • Eight special classes are required for the students.
  • Two special classes are required for the parents.

      RECONCILIATION
The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as the Sacrament of Penance or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness, and as a result we are called to forgive others.

  • Preparation for the sacrament of reconciliation usually takes place in the Grade 4 catechetical program.
  • Five special classes are required for the students.
  • One special class is required for the parents.
  • First Reconciliation is usually celebrated in December.

      CONFIRMATION

Confirmation is a Catholic sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. Like Baptism and Eucharist, it is a Sacrament of Initiation for Catholics and a Sacrament of faith in God's fidelity to us.

    For Youth:

    • Must be at least a sophomore in high school
    • Two year program
    • Program includes classes, service, retreats

      MARRIAGE

The Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God's values.

  • Marriage preparations must begin at least 6 months before the marriage date.
  • At least one member must be a registered member of the parish.

      ANOINTING OF SICK
Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness.

A Mass of Healing is usually held on the third Thursday of each month. At that time, the sacrament is available, as well as healing prayer by our prayer team after the 9:00 AM daily mass.
