Sister Karen Berry's Classes
THURSDAY MORNINGS, 10-11:30 AM
FEBRUARY 15-MARCH 21
SAGUARO ROOM
PRESENTER: SISTER KAREN BERRY, OSF
How, historically, did Jesus come to be seen as God? Through lectures and discussion we will continue to look at the historical evolution of faith as early Christians grappled with how to understand who Jesus was. In Part 1, last winter, we looked at pre-Christian ideas of gods becoming human and humans becoming gods in various world religions and even in Judaism. We also looked at how Jesus talked about himself.
In Part 2, during this season of Lent, we will explore early Church history and the Councils that dealt with heresies and controversies as the Church attempted to shape a doctrine of Jesus as fully human and fully divine. It is not necessary to have attended Part 1 last winter in order to attend Part 2. Please call the parish to register. A $5.00 fee for materials can be paid at the first class.
