The Catalina Quilters Project Linus ministry has two goals:

To provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets lovingly created by volunteers;

To provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals in our parish and in the Catalina community for the benefit of children.

The quilts created by our group number over 200 per year and are blessed by the parish pastor before turning them over to the great Tucson Project Linus leadership for distribution to hospitals, public service agencies, foster care services, migrant and domestic shelters.

We accept donations of cotton fabric, thread, batting and tools. In addition we hold a fundraiser each year to raise money for needed supplies.

Our ministry meets at Santa Catalina Catholic Church parish hall the third Monday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All sewists and quilters regardless of expertise are welcome.

Our Project Linus Quilts Blessing will be held on May 19th, at the 9am Mass. These quilts are to be on display at all of the weekend Masses. The quilts will then be picked up by the Project Linus Tucson Chapter, who will distribute them to 33 different recipient locations in the Tucson area. The Catalina Community Quilters, which gathers here at Santa Catalina Church, was established to support this needed mission. In the past few years, the demand for blankets has been very high! 650 blankets are delivered per month in the Tucson area!
Come join our group of quilters while helping children in need!

Catalina Community Quilters welcomes all levels of quilters in the surrounding area. Spend the whole day or come when you can (bring a lunch or snacks). Please bring your sewing machine, thread and your quilting tools. For your use, we have irons, ironing boards, cutting mats and tools, as well as a few sewing machines, thread, blanket kits, patterns, fabric and quilts to be finished! For more information contact us by email: office@santacatalinaparish.org or by phone: 520-825-9611, x110.

We meet every third Monday of the
month, unless otherwise stated. Come join us in this community ministry. Thank you!
